Lung Cancer Screening Program
 
The Australian Government launched the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) in July 2025 to help detect lung cancer earlier in people at increased risk.
Strathfield Private Hospital proudly participates in this program, offering a clear pathway from screening through to diagnosis and treatment, if needed.
Who the program is for:
    - Aged 50-70years old
- Have a smoking history cigarette smoking of at least 30 pack-years
- No signs/symptoms suggestive of lung cancer
- Currently smoking/quit within the last 10 years
Our screening program connects you with coordinated services to support early diagnosis and appropriate care:
    - Low-dose CT scan (bulk-billed) at Lumus Imaging
- GP support throughout the process and individualised care, guided by expert review
- Timely results and national record-keeping
- Rapid access to respiratory specialists
- Support from the full range of hospital services at Strathfield Private Hospital
What to expect: Your screening journey
STEP 1: 
GP referral for bulk-billed low-dose CT chest scan
STEP 2: 
Results within 48 hours and scan is assessed by a radiologist
STEP 3: 
Rapid access to Specialist review(if required)
STEP 4: 
Multidisciplinary team reviews high- risk cases and plans treatment
STEP 5: 
Surgery performed if needed
STEP 6: 
Ongoing care
