Dr Shagun Aggarwal is a Plastic Surgeon with sub-specialty interests including microsurgical (free flap) breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery. He also has an interest in implant breast reconstruction, hand surgery and skin cancer surgery.
After completing his medical degree at UNSW Dr Aggarwal undertook a year of General Surgery training, followed by 5 years of training in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery under the auspices of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), resulting in his award of FRACS(Plast). Subsequently he undertook fellowships in breast cosmetic and reconstructive surgery at University of Toronto, Canada, and a full year doing a microsurgical fellowship in one of the best microsurgical centres in the world (University of Pennsylvania USA).
Dr Aggarwal’s knowledge, and experience from high volume, low morbidity centres of excellence have been invaluable in delivery of a high quality surgical service to his patients in Sydney. His professional and personable nature, result in excellent patient satisfaction both with their surgical results and patient journey.
Dr Aggarwal is appointed at three of Sydney's most prestigious hospital campuses - Royal Prince Alfred, Prince of Wales and Sydney Adventist Hospitals. He is also one of the few breast reconstruction surgeons at the Royal Hospital for Women. In addition he also works at Hunters Hill Private and Strathfield Private hospitals offering the full range of reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery procedures.
He continues to be involved in teaching and education. For two years Dr Aggarwal was a representative of trainees on the National Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He continues to be involved in the training of future plastic surgeons at all campuses at which he works. Dr Aggarwal regularly collaborates with his colleagues in Australia and North America to further plastic surgery research.
