Dr Akalya Mahendran is a holistic Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist and provides individualised patient care. She has lived in the Strathfield area her whole life and is passionate about her local community. Akalya is a Consultant Gastroenterologist with Bankstown Hospital where is dedicated to improving health literacy. She is a Fellow with the Royal Australiasian College of Physician and completed her Gastroenterology and Hepatology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital. She is accredited in providing diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopies. She is committed to teaching and training of junior doctors and improving medical systems to maximise efficiency and provide patients with the best care possible.
Akalya is happy to see all aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. She has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease.
