Strathfield Private Hospital has been rated as Top Hospital for Medical Team Recommendation, according to a HCF hospital patient experience study of 11,000 patients.

The study found that Strathfield Private placed equal fourth in NSW for medical team care, despite its small size.

Strathfield Private might be a little hospital (84 beds), but size isn’t everything,” says Strathfield Private Hospital CEO Paul Darcy.

In fact increasingly studies show that small hospitals can offer excellent care because leadership is more readily accessible increasing staff engagement - and also there are fewer processes and communication barriers.

“We are proud and delighted in such a big national poll that Strathfield has been recommended by patients for patients; and that they would trust their nearest and dearest with our medical care,” Mr Darcy said.

He said that Strathfield Private continues to make inroads in cardiac care.

“The hospital was one of the first hospitals in Australia to perform commercially available private heart surgery, and our doctors recently implanted our first TAVI which means we can now replace a valve without even cutting the patient’s chest.”

He said elderly patients are also benefiting from the hospital’s cardiac care with survival rates in patients who undergo complex cardiac surgery even in their 80s well above the standard international benchmark.
